    Upgrading UPS capacity

The one I have is pure sine wave according to the manufacturer. That's why I bought it. That means pure sine wave output. But can it take in modified sine wave and convert it to clean pure sine wave for the computer without either the PC or the UPS being damaged? So I take it the U2200 is not a...

    Upgrading UPS capacity

I was thinking of getting a U2200. Not too pricy and lots of amp hours with good reviews. Is this battery safe for prolonged indoor use with people in the same room? It doesn't emit harmful gases or anything, right? With that I was looking for some charger and inverter recommendations...

    Upgrading UPS capacity

What hardware set up would you recommend? Perhaps I can run the UPS from an inverter/battery setup? I am worried about protecting my sensitive electronic equipment (monitor and PC) from power spikes and brownouts so I'd like to keep my sine wave UPS.

    Upgrading UPS capacity

How can I upgrade a Cyberpower PP1500SW-T2 UPS to have more energy storage capacity? What type of battery set up would I need? This is assuming access to city electricity, not from a generator.

    Generator comparisons

Are there no batteries that can be charged at steady voltages? Then I might need to rethink my setup. Under normal circumstances: 200 watt peak power usage. Usually it will be less. Occasionally, I'll use an 800W microwave for a few minutes per day. So a 1k generator will be fine for me. I am...

    Generator comparisons

I'm already almost 100% sure that I will use a 1k generator. However, there are more expensive brands and less expensive brands. There are inverter generators that vary engine RPM and regular (cheaper) generators. There are very expensive efficient generators and less efficient, but cheaper...

    Generator comparisons

What kind of battery charging set up can I make that would draw about 800-900 watts to charge the batteries? This is a generator efficiency-related question since generators operate at maximum efficiency close to their maximum output.

    Generator comparisons

But given the set up I listed (the components), for how long would I have to run that generator to charge the batteries and how many watts will the charger draw? 100W? 200W? 700W? I will likely be buying an old, used generator so I will be replacing all of the chargers/inverters.

    Generator comparisons

How much power will the charger eat? Is the 700 watts figure accurate? If so, that will bring total power consumption to around 850 watts which is very good since it's extremely close to the rated power output of the generator (900 watts). Research tells me that this is the most efficient way to...

    Generator comparisons

That said, thanks for all the info. However, I'm still trying to pinpoint the most efficient way to run a trailer using up to 200 watts of power at max and 150 watts average. It would have 2 U2200 6v batteries working together to create a 12 volt current. G - C - U2200 - I - UPS - PC...

    Generator comparisons

It's variable, that variable being the wattage demand. However, since you have a gasoline engine running, I doubt it can perfectly match wattage demand. It probably has a few "sweet spots" of wattage demand where it is most efficient.

    Generator comparisons

That's also what I gathered from this discussion. It is always most efficient to use a generator that you will operate at the rated load where it is most efficient. Anything less and you lose efficiency. The variable RPM of the Yamaha just makes it a bit more flexible compared to a constant...

    Heating a trailer

    I did mention a light strip. I won't be using a fridge.

    Redesigning cargo trailer

Looks kind of pricey. Many used travel trailers sell for less.

    Heating a trailer

Mostly it will be running a a PC, monitor and a fluorescent light strip. The PC and monitor generally use 140 watts according to what my UPS is showing. The light strip will use 64 watts. That's 204 watts or less than a fourth of the generators rated output (225 watts). But that's when I'm using...
