    Mackenzie pass Oregon, Highway 242

I just read my Mountain Directory West edition and answered my own question. The answer is don't do it.

    Mackenzie pass Oregon, Highway 242

We are headed to Oregon in a couple of weeks. Does anyone have experience driving a motorhome over Mackenzie pass?

    Crater Lake OR mid Sept

Planning to go south from Seattle in early to mid Sept to Crater Lake and then over to the coast. Driving 34 Ft DP pulling toad. Any "must sees" or advice. I am familiar with the northern Oregon coast but not southern Oregon. Thank you in advance. Randy

    Thousand Trails Membership

I will admit my experience is local here to the Pacific Northwest (where Thousand Trails started).  I did join for one year to try it out.  My experience was camping a lot rougher than I wanted with my motorhome.  Yes, some sites had full hookups but I never seemed to be able to get one.  Roads...

Crater Lake National Park, Sun Mountain Rd.

Best rout to 101 from I-5 is to take exit 36  and cross the river there into Oregon, so 5 to 432 to route 30 on the Oregon side of the river (Columbia river).  You then connect to 101 in Astoria.  That is easier than going into Portland and connecting on 26 which takes you to 101 at Seaside...

    Step cover switch replacement

Thanks to all who helped me on this.  I did order a replacement switch (from Lichstinn) and finally got up to where I store my coach and got it done this afternoon.  With your input I had enough confidence to tug and get it out.  Working fine now so on to the next task.

    Thanks Lou and Mavarick.

    Step cover switch replacement

I removed the two screws but the panel did not lift right out, seems to be just the template that is secured by the screws and the switches are clipped in.  Maybe I just need to force it?  But, yes, we seem to have the same configuration.

    Step cover switch replacement

On my 2004 Itasca Meridian the rocker switch to extend and retract the step cover is intermittent.  I tried to remove the switch to replace it but do not see an obvious way to get it out.  This is mounted in the switch panel by the passenger seat.  I know there must be an easy way to do this and...

    200 in MT

Did it in our 34 ft DP pulling the toad and it is a fine road.  No problems at all.  Stopped at the top of the pass to look around.

    6 volt battery change question

Jeff, have you got any pics of your common bus setup?  Sounds like a great idea.

    6 volt battery change question

I replaced my 12 volt batteries with golf cart 6 volts.  It was very close (to being too tall), so I was careful pushing the tray back in, but it works great.  Got my batteries at Costco.

    Route Help Northwest

While I live in the Seattle area and love it, my first choice would be to fly to Salt Lake City and do the Yellowstone etc loop.  You could spend a week in Yellowstone and just touch it, in my opinion.  I love the place.  While in Montana/Wyoming Glacier is another great place to see.  Eastern...

    Hooked!

I prefer about 60mph.  Keeps the stress level down and on two lane roads when they pile up I just  pull over and let 'em go by.  I do this for fun, not to make a living.  Gotta enjoy what you are doing.

Where do WA folks buy RV?

We live in the north end here in Edmonds, WA.  Bought our current coach from Roy Robinson.  I have been pleased with their sales and service departments.  I would start there if looking for another--after doing a thorough nationwide search to understand pricing etc.  Our experience with local RV...
