[Fixed] Bad news - FW tank is leaking

My FW Tank developed a leak while I was in Forest City for other warranty work. They said they corrected the issue by I think they called it roto welding a new drain fitting on the existing tank. I asked what that meant and they described it as spinning the fitting to melt the tank and fitting...

    macerating pump

I have used a Clean Dump Macerator for about 6 years. Just had to replace the Pump due to locked rotor. The cause seems to be hair winding around the pump shaft and preventing the slinger from preventing liquid to enter the pump motor. I have had hair issues in the past so would advise to do...

    Docking Lights?

I found the wiring diagrams on Winnebago's site do not like Windows 10 Edge Browser, but if you open the site in Windows Explorer, they work ok. Since my default is set up for Edge, when I select a diagram in Explorer the new window with the diagram opens in Edge and displays normally. You just...

If you had to do over again on your first motor home

Not an option but  lesson learned on current coach. The black colors so prevalent really increase the solar load on the AC. So if you buy into the dark color scheme have plenty of AC capacity. An option we have and almost never use is the outside TV. See a few people use theirs but not many...

    Bounder entry steps stuck retracted

My steps, Kwikee Brand, intermittently will refuse to come out. Took me some time under the coach but the problem seems to be a bad spot on the motor armature. I have purchased a replacement motor but have not replaced it yet. When they act up, if I rap on the motor with a moderately heavy...

    Steps

My Kwikee steps became very intermittent about a year ago. They would not extend after being in the closed state for any period over a few days. Once they operated and were used regularly they seemed to operate normally. I removed the motor found a broken mounting screw on the motor and replaced...

    Furnace works --sometimes?

When you say Electric side, do you mean the heat pump or do you have strip heaters? If heat pump what was the outside temp? The heat pump probably has a lock out around 38 degrees which disables it and forces the LP furnace to run. Since your LP is empty it obviously will not function so no...

    HWH Leveling system

Here is the bulletin from HWH where they indicate the use of WD40. I have cleaned the seal area of the ram with WD40 and it did significantly help with retraction speed. Safe Travels, David

    Door Shade 2011 Journey

Mine got difficult to retract and Winnebago solution was to replace the entire shade assembly. Thank goodness it was still under warranty, doubt it is intended to be repaired, which doesn't mean you cannot, but might be a bit unorthodox. Good Luck, David

Problems with Newer Diesels Using the DEF System

I got stranded in Rapid City SD due to our SCR going out. The MH drove normally but the check engine light was on. They diagnosed the SCR as bad requiring replacement. This is a large tank in the exhaust line where the DEF is injected into the exhaust stream. They indicated the emissions issue...

cleaning old sealant between fiberglass roof skin and awning rail

I purchased this hobby knife from Harbor Freight and the blades are flexible enough to cut down the side of the aluminum rail as well as the fiberglass. It works pretty well. http://www.harborfreight.com/hobby-knife-with-five-carving-blades-96738.html Safe Travels, David

Surge Guard Model 41260 Transfer Switch Problem

Had to move the MH today so disconnected power and unit sat for a while then re=parked and plugged back in. Both AC's started up and no issues. I am perplexed to explain or understand what happened but the unit continues to function normally. I have to return the old unit as the replacement was...

Surge Guard Model 41260 Transfer Switch Problem

Talked to TRC (SurgeGuard) this AM and they had little to suggest other than maybe something stuck in the contactor. Not really a confidence building response, but the unit has continued working as expected. I checked to make sure it switched over with generator and switched back when generator...

Surge Guard Model 41260 Transfer Switch Problem

I have an internal DVM plugged into an outlet in the coach which has always shown expected voltage, except when the contactor is actually open or chattering , as it did with the original ATS. The symptoms of the replacement ATS were totally different. It did not matter if there was any load or...
