Okay-long story short. My hubby wants to camp, but we don't get much time and have a limited budget. Went to a farm sale and bought a little slide in pick-up camper for $60.00-no one looked at it close :D It was really nice, but we quickly realized a) all our trucks have fifth wheel balls in them, and b) the wind wants to blow it over when it's off the truck here!
Put it on Craigslist for $1000.00- sold in less then an hour- scoured Craigslist and found the fiver asking $1000.00- needs some work.
We looked it over and offered $700.00-SOLD!
It had a leaky roof, thus the wall and ceiling damage and lack of upper cabs in dining area, dinette, counter tops, sofa, and bed. The PO was refinishing the kitchen a darker color when she gave up. She provided stain, green marble tile, insulation, oak veneer panels, flooring, grout, thin set, paneling, and other misc. building supplies, oh, and a bigger fridge. She also had the roof sealed and new vents put in. The floors are solid. The appliances all work, there is a new gas heater in the living room. The water and electric systems are good. The slide only worked on one side and the electric jacks didn't work.
We finished the kitchen, welded the screw for the slide out, fixed the jacks, installed bigger fridge, built a radio cabinet out of a microwave stand, built a tank monitor/light cab out of a buffet bridge (both from thrift store) bought a sleeper sofa (thrift store), built counter tops and installed marble tile, installed new carpet, bought a free standing dining set (thrift store table and yard sale chairs) and basically just put it together. All in all we are about even :D
Not as cool as the upper end fivers- but cozy enough for us.

Well done!!

The best part is you will not be afraid to use it. You can take it boondocking and not worry about a scratch or dent, unlike some one with a $30,000 rig.

Thank you! We will use it and not be afraid to scratch it and I know every inch of it now so a little duct tape and bailing wire can fix it ;)

We worked on it in our spare time for about a month. Time was the biggest investment, and well worth it!
