The smell went away, but I decided to run a cycle through the w/d anyway and if anything gets funky, I'm shutting it down.

Who knows, maybe it actually works.

Plus, I'm running out of clean clothes. :

Well, it looks like the w/d works ok. Ran a few empty cycles to get any crud out, threw in some clothes and it looks good to go. ;D

Indeed. I was at the ready with a fire extinguisher, towels and ready to hit the kill switch, but it did fine from what I can tell.

I guess the next thing to try is the water heater....I think I'll wait on that...
