well a little back story to start with, i found this camper on craigs list for sale or trade, it didnt look to bad so i decided to offer my harley sportster up for trade since im buying a bigger bike anyway we might as well get something the whole family can enjoy, and im getting a little tired of sleeping on the ground when we go camping. after a 4hr drive we pull up at our destination i give the camper a good once over doesnt look to bad opend some cabinets checked for watter damage and outside of  one spot near the front that the wall showed a sign of once getting wet but was still solid it didnt look to bad, it needs some cleaning and a power washer to the outside but overall seemed like a fair deal. it was raining preaty good and i couldnt find any water leaking in  i unload my bike fire it up the guy takes it for a quick ride. around the block and we make a deal.  half way home we stop at mc donalds and im looking out the window and the back of the camper looks a little funny not sitting quite right didnt think much of it till i got home and start pulling rugs out and testing the water heater ect. i open the compartment and notice the floor is soft by the water heater and the more i dug the worse it got looking at the back and discoverd that it must not of been winterized properly at one time because the plumbing to the water tank, pump and water heater all had been replaced still had menards stickers on the pipes and some one did a horrible patch job the main board across the back at the floor was compleatly rotted away along with the one from the back driverside corner to the wheel wells. i feel i got screwed a bit on the deal but life goes on ill call it a learning experience and get on with the repairs  ive been takeing photos as i go and will be updating as work progresses

Sorry you keep finding more damage. Welcome to, as I think of it, built to leak club. I know Rv,s need maintenance but I find it interesting that of all the cars and trucks and enclosed utility trailers I,ve owned I have never had to go around and caulk every seem, rivet, screw, molding etc. it seems the RV industry is still a little behind in there water proofing.

Good luck in you rebuild. Other than the water damage looks like a nice rig. What are you towing with?

Happy camping, Tom

all this work has made ms. rossi tired  got the floor back together put a couple pices of some toungand groove pine up to see how i like them think i may go to the botom of the windows with it since i have enough in the garage.

Looks like your making great progress with your project. That,s great you have a 5th wheel you can pull with a half ton. We looked for one but the only ones we could find were too expensive or too large for us. The tongue and groove looks good. Adds a like character and warmth. I have used T&G cypress for my cabinet doors in the past and will be using it again in our new rebuild.

Happy camping, Tom

got alot of work done yesterday. painting ho****erheater put in, water tank changed the layout we lost the ability to fold the table into a bed but overall i think this is going to work better for us.  i still need to do some finish trim work and put a floor covering down but the weekend is here its been a long week working on it and i have 3 kids verry anxious to go camping.  if anyone is looking to do some painting we used this valspar paint primer combo and it coverd verry well with 1 coat in most places.

FEEL YOUR PAIN FEEL YOUR PAIN> we did the same thing bought an 89, looked solid, while putting bedding on back bunk put by hand through the panel. Same spot and issues as yours, we just rebuilt the but end last week as well.

I was feeling very angery, sent the seller a text with a picture of the damage we found, and he gave me $200 back ! ;D
