The reason we ame to Rockmart is to ride the Silver Comet Rail Trail, today the weather was good so we were able to do a 30 mile ride, we can ride to the trail from our campsite.

The Silver Comet Rail Trail looks wonderful. I'm not far from you in Gainesville, Florida visiting family. Gonna head out west after Thanksgiving : )

The campground we are at is really nice, it's mostly workers and they are nice and friendly.
The campground is family owned and operated so the office is only open Mon through Friday 9 to 5. You can only check in when they are open, no exceptions.
The grounds are well maintained and the bathrooms are clean. The place is quiet too.
We will be back.

Today we rode the "other" way on the trail. It was just as nice with more hills. The ride was 36 miles.

We left Rockmart yesterday for Byron, Ga. We took 285 around Atlanta, traffic was still crazy. We are staying at our friends place for 2 nights.

I've done the loop around Atlanta at least a dozen times in the last few years. There is never a good time to pass through or circumnavigate Atlanta as far as I cant tell.

I agree, I always add an hour or more for the ride.

Due to heavy rain on Sunday at our next destination we decided to stay in Byron, Ga one more night.
Sunday we went to the Museum of Aviation at Robins AFB. It was a really nice museum and they even had the annual model train shoe.
We left Monday morning and arrived that afternoon at our last stop before we get to Florida.
We are Crooked River State Park in Saint Mary's, Ga. It's a nice park with large sites, ours is FHU. We have had this stop planned for 6 months with our friends.

Some nice hiking trails here at Crooked River State Park we did 3+ plus and never went on the same trail.

Went to St. Marys yesterday with our friends and enjoyed a long walk around the water front. We stopped for an oatmeal stout and then went back to the campground.
Visited the Cumberland Island National Seashore Museum, hopefully next time we visit the area the weather will be warm enough to visit the island.

We arrived! We are at Wekiwa Springs State Park until the end of March. Spending the day setting up the site.
