Blue Ox Avail tow bar rebuild

My Avail tow bar just turned 9 years old. Blue Ox just told me they will NOT work on any bar over 8 years old...go figure. The 'soft latches' (holds the arms in the retracted position during storage) stopped working. Blue Ox says the latches are just rubber grommets held in by roll pins in the tube by the pivot. Blue Ox won't recommend this DIY and won't sell the grommets. Has anyone torn down one of these? I'm wondering if a bunch of other miscellaneous parts might come rolling out too in no particular order.

We have the Aventa. Had it service by Blue Ox about 3 or 4 years ago. We should probably have it serviced again but not sure where to have it done. The dealer we purchased it from said he will look at. However, when Blue Ox says to replace it I get concerned. In this litigious age, Blue Ox is likely just covering their backside. When we had it done the cost was $35.00. Not a lot of money for Blue Ox to stick their neck out. Let us know what you end up doing.
