Charles City Tornado Yesterday

My wife and I were on our way to MN yesterday and decided to stop to let some storms and heavy rain pass by.

While parked at a Loves we decided to eat lunch.  After lunch we decided to take a short snooze since it was raining so hard.  I almost fell asleep but I get very restless during storms.  I was up looking out the windows when I got a bit of a surprise.

All of a sudden both of our phones started screeching then a voice came on saying a tornado was in the Charles City area.  I said to my wife ?GO GO GO! We need to leave the RV and get inside!?  Once inside I turned around and snapped this pic.  It did some damage to some structures in town but too close for me!

My sister's in laws were all from Charles City Iowa. How bizarre.

Yikes!  Far too many close calls.  Glad you're okay!

We live about 25 miles from there. The county fair grounds are pretty much gone. Large AG center and a few rural home has significant damage. More storms and warnings tonight. I?m kinda glad we are not traveling right now.
