I park in the truck parking, but when you do, please stop at the back of the diagonal spots. No need to have a trucker mad at you, when he pulls in between two other trucks only to find a short class C up at the front of the spot blocking his exit.
If the car lot has face to face parking spots I can fit in I use those. If (like most rest areas) it is narrow and pull in parking only I will go to the truck lot and as the other Steve said - stay back enough that the incoming trucks know the spot is taken.
Google Maps satellite view helps with the decision before pulling into the rest area.
ha, this is something I wish I could get DW to understand. She has little patience for doing a little navigating for what's ahead, or doesn't really try to understand. Just thinks it's no big deal, just pull in and figure it out like you always do... and gets frustrated when I ask her to look ahead a bit when we are planning on the fly.
Many rest areas we've stopped at have "soft shoulders" at the entrance &/or exit to the truck area, allowing smaller RVs to park without depriving truckers of a much-needed place to park & rest.
