Junction City (KMTR) - Another round of layoffs for a major Lane County employer. Country Coach in Junction City will lay off about 100 workers. Company spokesman Matt Howard says the permanent layoffs affect mostly administrative and engineering positions. According to Country Coach, the cutbacks are in response to a sagging market for motor homes and the staff reductions will keep the company competitive. Company officials are working to help the laid off workers find new jobs. In total, Country Coach employs about 850 people.

How quickly things change. Just 3 years ago, when we were in that part of the country, Country Coach was planning to double capacity in Junction City and was advertising for workers. There was a huge spread in the local paper. Heck, I was even sending family members up there to look for work. Glad they didn't go.
