Just for giggles, I googled the hp and gross vehicle weight of a VW Beetle. I figure that would constitute 'adequate' power. Hp-43, GVW-4200. Looks like the formula works.

Passenger cars, SUVs and even light duty pickups typically have a much greater power-to-weight ratio than any motorhome. But yes, VW Beetles moved "adequately" with as little as 23 hp in a 1600 lb (curb weight) vehicle.

I've had the opportunity to own a really nice Blue Bird Wanderlodge, for a really great price.
But when I figured in maintenance costs of a diesel coach verses the cost of a Gas coach.
Well we just kept fueling up the old F53 Bounder.

That's kind of what I'm thinking now. I will really look for a reasonably priced diesel, but if a nice gas rig stands up and says, 'pick me!', I think I'll roll with it. Thanks to everyone for the advice!
