Would a 6 cylinder f-150 be adequate for a 19 ft hybrid weighing 3700#.  I,ve only towed a popup with a minivan and have no experience towing something more than twice as heavy. it is the extended cab model. The owner says it has a tow package but the only evidence of one seems to be a port for the wiring and an icon on the transmission lever so what does "towing package mean? lou loibl

Is it the turbo 6 from 2011+ ecoboost or an opder 6 cyl? In any case google ford towing guide; it gives you weight for all cab and engine configurations.
On all models I have seen tow package meant trailer brake controler and sometimes wider mirrors.

"Towing package" is anything that enhances the basic package for better towing capability, so it largely depends on what's in the base. It may add things like a larger radiator or different rear axle, in addition to accessories like a hitch receiver, brake controller, etc. There really is no fixed definition.

You need to look up this 6 cylinder F150 in the Ford Towing Guide for that year. You will need to know things like cab style (regular, extended, crew), bed length, transmission type, 2WD vs 4WD, and maybe rear axle ratio. The guide will tell you the max towing capacity.

Or post more details here and we can help.

make sure to check the rear end gearing, makes a huge difference as well.
