fan-tastic vent covers?

hello all, wondering if anyone ever lost a fan-tastic vent cover? i just installed 2 of them on the roof of our 2003 adventurer (bathroom and kitchen)
and the way they are held on with cotter pins seems a little flimsy to me! wondering if i should try and fortify them somehow?

Those pins are actually quite strong, and allow you to remove the cover to both clean the skylight and check your caulking. Never had a problem.

I felt that they were quite strong as well....but I put a small dollop of caulk on each one as a 'safety'.  I figured it will keep them form rattling around, or reduce getting pulled by something like a small stick from a tree or similar. And for maintenance easy to pull the caulk off.
Probably didn't help much if at all, but it made me feel a bit better.
