Fuel pump

If I add a electric Fuel pump(external) to my F53 chassis will it suck fuel if the in tank pump goes out ?

Don, If you have the original fuel pump on you 96 F53, it's a gear pump and I doubt that you can suck fuel through it. The replacement pump from Ford is a turbine pump and may pass fuel when not running.

Don, I did that on a 94 F53.  The recommended aux. pump must have a 15 # inlet pressure for the it to work. After I installed mine, the tank pump lasted another 2 years. When the tank pump completely failed I was on the road and it cost $800.00 to get the original replaced.

Or you could just spend the money up front to replace the in-tank pump with the improved version and save the cost of the in-line bandaid.
