Hello,

We are Rich and Terrie.  I'm so thankful to this RV forum what a great place to go to sort out what we need to know before we go on the road.  We are planning to be fulltime RVers in Aug.  We have been researching and pondering this decision for the past two years.  Wow, talk about overwhelming at times.  We have finally decided to go with a Class A diesel vs gas since we would like to have a coach with 3 - 4 slides and at least 38'.  There are not too many used gas rigs with this criteria.  We are looking at 2 slides in the front and one or two in the bedroom area.  We would like a bath and a half if possible, a washer/dryer and a free stand dinette.  Does anyone have any other tips that we should look for inside or outside?  We are also planning to finance part of the coach so we could use some advice on the best places to get loans or where we should avoid?  We are on a pretty tight budget but we are very accustomed to living simply.  Any advice you may have would be appreciated.  Thanks again for a great place to share and learn so much from others experiences.

Thank you.

Like a house or car, this is a strictly personal decision.  I have been preaching "research" as the best way to go.  Hit up some RV shows in your area and go to the dealerships.  Everyone, literally has an opinion on different makes and models and what works for them and what doesn't.  You have to see them to really decide and when you walk in and out of them you have to try and picture yourself living in it.  We researched the frames (10" vs 12"), hitches (we have a fifth wheel), tires, windows...even the placement of the toilet paper holder   Knock on the walls inside, listen to them.  Open the cabinet doors and make sure they open the way you would be comfortable.  We check lighting placement and fixtures.  Counter space...the lists are endless and so many things can be overlooked.
Keep researching, touching and feeling.  You will find what is best for you! :)  Good luck!

The above post is spot on. I preach that floorplan is number one in the decision. Once you know how you want things then you can look for the coach that is in the condition you want.

Go out there and get touchy feely and leave your checkbook home!

Financing is a matter of shopping around too. Get quotes on your own and challenge the dealer to beat them from his sources.  You can make application direct to Bank of America online, and I think Wells Fargo too - those are the two largest RV lenders. Try finance brokers such as Essex Credit and Good Sam, too. Sometimes a local credit union can do a good deal too, but some will only offer "big car loans", which are often expensive and short term compared to RV specialists. Large rv loans are more like a home mortgage.
