My wife and I are now fulltime and she would like to find a nice park on the Gulf Coast. Our first exploration will be this October/November and we would probably run from say...Southern Louisiana and work the Texas Gulf Coast as far South as needed with a week here, a week there as we go....She would like a park with either a great water view and/or right on the beach....We could investigate a variety of parks from State Parks all the way to full blown five star resorts..Once she finds a place she really likes, we will make a note for a future extended stay if available, but for this fall, we are in the exploration stage...Next year, we could try the other direction from Louisiana through Florida Gulf Coast, unless she finds that special place before that.
I have done a lot of reading, RV park reviews etc, and have some places in mind, but first hand knowledge from any forum readers that could steer us to their favorites or that hidden 'gem',  (and why)...would be of great help!
I look forward to hearing what you have to say.

We really like TopSail Preserve State Park in Destin.  Close to everything, excellent sites ,staff and services..

We really like TopSail Preserve State Park in Destin
While a great place, TopSail requires a trolley ride  (or walk/bike ride) before you can see water. We especially enjoy the Carabelle, FL area - Ho Hum RV Park (waterfront) or Carrabelle Beach Resort (right across road from beach).

Topsail hill preserve is #1 on my list. Yes it is a 10 min walk to the water, but it one of the nicest parks anywhere. full of wildlife! saw deer every morning while walking to the beach. The sites are fairly private, each carved out of the woods. They are large and all have pads. Just a nice park!!

On the Texas coast, more specifically in Galveston, (along the route you describe) one of my faves is Sandpiper RV resort on the east end of the island. Very convenient to everything Galveston. Going west from there, you have Dellanera (Galveston), Galveston Island State park, Jamaica Beach RV resort (Jamaica Beach, but across the highway from the beach), Quintana Beach county park (Surfside), Matagorda Bay Nature Park, Goose Island State Park (Rockport), Mustang Island State park (Aransas Pass) and of course on down to South Padre. These are only the few I know about and I know others will chime in with more destinations along your intended route. Still, Sandpiper is my favorite. It's new, it's nice with a good bit to do in the area with good beach views (it's a 2 minute walk to the beach), nice pool, hot tub and gas fire pit.

We really enjoyed Gulf Shores State Park right in Gulf Shores Alabama.. The sites are really large and they have WIFI. They offer a weekly and month rate during NOV to MARCH. We really enjoy the area, it is only a 5min car ride to the beach, which is part of the state park. The beach is wonderful and the sand it like white sugar. They offer excellent pave bike trails and they have 600 sites. We would recommend this park for sure. We enjoyed it at the end of October and it was very quiet prior to the arrival of the snow birds. Hope this helps!! We are looking to return for the month of March,...there rates are very reasonable and NO meter for electricity..$450 per month depending on the site.

Well, back again!....It is now early November and we ended up staying for a month (October) at Dellanera RV Park...owned by the city of Galveston...South end of Seawall Blvd.....A great place for our needs. Realistic rate for waterfront...around $30 bucks per night with the weekly/monthly rate. Strong wi-fi included. Good 50 amp power/water and sewer at sight. Pull throughs and back ins. Relatively good site width so you're not right on your neighbor.
Low palm trees are still trying to take hold from the hurricane in 2008, but as much vegetation as any other place....usually a gentle to mild breeze every day off the ocean. The dunes don't block your view as some other parks do and most sights had a water view with the walk to the huge beach just seconds away.
The gulf water was still quite warm and we swam many days in the gulf. Great family beach too as you can walk out a hundred yards or more before it begins getting over your head. Surf was gentle most of the time.
After driving around and looking at 6 or so other parks including state park(s) and private within 30 miles, we found this park to be the absolute best. Great water views/access. Great rate. Friendly staff. Convenient to shopping, sightseeing. My only wish would be for a nice, comfortable spa/jacuzzi at the end of a busy day, but for the price I can get by....I would highly recommend a visit.

If you are retured military.  Blue Angel Rec Park in Pensacola is right on the water.  It was good hiking and the new section has full hook ups.  The older section has water and electric with plans to upgrade it.  The Park also has 2 full disc golf courses.

Just south of Sanibel Island in Ft Myers FL is the Red Coconut RV park. Quite nice.

Congratulations on full-time! You are going to love it!!!

We liked Camping on the Gulf in Destin, Fl. They have sites right on the beach and a spa/jacuzzi (if you camp right on the beach you'll have to walk a ways to the jacuzzi).

Also, Beverly Beach Camptown RV Resort in Flagler Beach, Fl is nice!

Have fun!
