105 yesterday in Memphis. Been over 100 for almost a week now, and forcasted to be in the low to mid 100's for the rest of the week. Then Saturday, will have to break out the long-john - supposed to only get 99.

Hit 100 for the first time here in Austin yesterday. Very cool summer so far. Lots of rain helped there.

Lotsa ceiling fans help a lot.

You know, I always wondered about this... I've always heard ceiling fans should blow "down" in the summer and pull air "up" in the winter.  But hot air rises, and that's what would be trapped at the top of the ceiling... so in the summertime, wouldn't the air coming "down" be hotter than the air already below the fan?  I know you get that feeling of refreshment with the breeze actually blowing on you, but you have to be directly below the fan and it seems like there would be better total-room circulation if the fan pulls air up and then disperses it around the entire room.  Things that make you go hmmmm... ;)

as Lowell had posted - up in the "teens" in Tempe, az earlier this week, down to about 108 or so today.
only good part of this heat is that in about 6-8 weeks, when it "cools" to about 95 - it'll be just perfect for
about 6 months. first part of summer wasn't too bad - until end of june, then we had a long run of days over 110 -
and it's just been hot since. thank goodness the rv likes the drive to Flagstaff and the White mt's.

We had a high of 83F with 25% humidity today at Sam's Camp.  Might get all the way up to 86F tomorrow. :D

Ron, you just love to brag about your lovely temps. Got up to 90 in Cortez today but we weren't here.....we were driving the San Juan Skyway loop and getting rained on with 50 degree temps.

That 50 degrees felt absolutely wonderful even if I was wishing I had on long pants instead of shorts. I've always been a sweats and socks kind of gal.

Only supposed to be 83 tomorrow which is about what it's supposed to be this time of year.

Maybe I shouldn't tell you Wendy that our high today at Sam's Camp was 83F compared to the 86F forcast.  Quite comfortable really.  Oh 27% humidity.  No brag just fact. ;D ;)

Still miserable hot in Alabama.  They had to shut down part of a nuclear reactor because the river water used to cool it was too hot.

"Unrelenting heat that has baked the Midwest and South for the past 10 days has killed more than three dozen people, even forcing officials Thursday to shut down part of a nuclear reactor in Alabama because the river water used to cool it was too hot."

Dang, that's hot!

On the evening news tonight they were saying that Phoenix is approaching a record for the most days ABOVE 110 degrees in a summer season. I think they said that the record was 28 days set in 1976. I don't remember but I think they said we're at 24 or 25 days now. I was down to Phoenix yesterday and it was 113.

Redmond OR was warm during the days - high 80s or about 90 - and down into the 40s at night.  Once the sun set, it was refreshingly cool.  In fact the first night there I got cold so pulled out the comforter the next morning.  Jerry also put the heat on in the mornings.  It never ceases to amaze me that there can be a 40 or 50 degree drop or rise in temperature within a few hours!  Anyway, it was refreshingly cool after 117 in Las Vegas.  ;)  We're at the Seven Feathers Casino & RV Resort tonight and it's still cool.  Heading south tomorrow.

We're getting a respite from the heat here in Milwaukee.  Only in the 60s today and tomorrow, but there is a flash flood watch due to heavy rain coming this way.  The ground is already soaked and it won't take any more water.  It's forecast to be back in the 90s by Wednesday.

Right after we moved to Rancho Mirage, CA, in July, 1995, we had 10 consecutive days of 120+ temps.  The high for the week was 137 in Coachella.  It was quite an introduction to the desert :(  The norm there is 100 days of 100+ temps each year.  But it's a dry heat ;)

Only 10 days over 120?? Shoot, in Death Valley we had at least 10 weeks with highs over 120.
