I can't find a manual for an Onan 4000

The friendliest place on the web for anyone with an RV or an interest in RVing!
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
http://www.cumminsonan.com/manuals has downloadable manuals for the Onan models.  You need to know the model designation.

That was the first place I went. I choose RV from the drop down list and then I have to choose the Model. The instructions say this "To search for and view your Cummins Onan generator operator manual, select the model and spec letter from the nameplate of your Cummins Onan generator to quickly find the correct manuals." But none of the Models listed are listed on the generator's nameplate.

Hi Tom
I have the manuals (3 of them) for the BGE/NHE Models but am in the UK,I am happy to post them to you for the cost of postage which I can find out in the next couple of days.

Thanks for the generous off Wyn, but I am on the road and I have no address where they could reach me.

Could it be either of these? The spec sheets and operator's manuals are PDF links on the pages:

or (for the California compliant model):

Those don't look a thing like mine. It is an older generator, from a 1985 vehicle and it is not enclosed in an all inclusive cover. Most everything is visible, carb, air cleaner, oil filter, sparkplug, etc. Thanks for the link.

We had a 1985 Pace Arrow with an Onan generator. However, my failing memory thinks it was a 3KW. I'll dig through my archives in the garage to see if I still have the manual.

Thank you Tom.

I haven't found anything on the Onan forum yet, but thanks for the link.

I just went outside and spent some time cleaning the nameplate on the generator and came up with the model number. It was not easy to read, it has 25 years of gunk on it. The model number is 4.0 BFA-1R/1600C. With that number I was able to find the service manual. Thank you to everyone for helping out.
