So we've seen posts about euro-travel, and I've got to say that taking your 13 M RV over there would be a mistake. There were many times our tour bus (following major highways) had to stop and peek around corners to see if someone was coming, sometimes backing up to let others pass. The driver said his bus was 12 meters long, so I assume it compared to my unit.

My wife thought I was nuts looking at campers along the way, and attached some pics for your enjoyment. The tow hitch was odd in that it appears to be a "strong-arm" ball hitch, with formidable hardware on the camper receivers. All tow vehicles were simply "family cars" ( if you consider a Mercedes 600 Series a family car that is). There were even a couple horse trailers at the one rest area we stopped at near Zurich.

The campgrounds were simply parking lots with a little space, and our guide said it is permitted to stop anywhere and camp (as long as you don't interfere with the right of way).

I will add more photo's when i get unpacked.

Huh...pulling a TT with a station wagon. Not something I see even in redneck-ville very often.

Maybe not now-a-days, but back in the day it was quite common. My old man pulled his travel trailer with a Lincoln Continental for a few years.
I remember when we were in the caravaner's club that one of the other members used a 60-somthing Chrysler Imperial to pull his rig. As a kid I was fascinated with that car's square steering wheel.

I didn't get a pic of the tow vehicle, but that's a Mercedes 380 SL wagon pulling two horses in the one pic.

Did it all the time back in the 70's. Towed a 24 ft TT with my Caddy sedan and a big 20 ft pop-up style trailer with a Chevy station wagon. A buddy pulled his Airstream with his Dodge van.
I meant "these days". You see it, just not often. I usually try to stay well back from - or try to get in front of - those type. And a van is usually built on a truck frame, vice a station wagon that is built more on a sedan frame.

I assume many of the roads/highways in Europe were/are not built for larger vehicles like trucks. I know when I was in Scotland many years ago one of the first things I noticed was how skinny the highway was, and even the moving vans weren't much bigger than one of those 26' U-hauls that you rent. I thought that if you needed to move a 4 bedroom home across country there it would take quite a while moving 2 rooms at a time.

Trailers are called caravans in Europe.
Yes, that confused me when I heard it the first time. "Gee, look at that nice caravan." And there I am, staring into the distance, looking for a convoy line of vehicles. Or a herd of camels following each other.
