Awesome....a few small problems.  Our second slide-out on our 32bhds jayco travel trailer wouldn't slide-out once we got there.  We manually released it after calling the dealer to find out what to do and problem solved!  Forgot to turn on the fridge....before we left.  Couldn't find the switch for the hot water heater until the second day :).  All in all, our first trip with our 15 month old was awesome.  He had a great time crawling all throughout our 35' trailer and making a mess.  He loved the "get up and go" bike rides and the swimming at the campground. And our dodge durango (2008 tow package) did an awesome job towing it!  We only went about 1.5 hours away with no inclines but it pulled it beautifully, even though we were only slightly under it's recommended towing capacity (we weighed all of our stuff and ourselves).  Only 9.9 miles per gallon though :(.  Also, some slight swaying at faster speeds but hubby said it was no problem for him. Don't worry, we are thinking about getting a larger tv, but we were pleasantly surprised at our durango's towing capabilities. We are so excited to start our new way of traveling.  We are both teachers, off during summers.  We plan on taking a few small weekend trips during the school year too.  Thanks guys for letting us "lurk" and steal your great advice.  And thanks to all of the helpful lists...we didn't forget anything :)

Sounds like you had a blast! One tip I have for you is to keep in mind how you have your trailer loaded (which tanks are full, where the heavy items are, etc) as it'll help with the swaying part.

You have not stolen anything, we love to give advice.  Now, stop lurking and remain active on the forum.  It is a great place to hang out.

The maiden voyage is often a very fun experience, but you have many more such experiences ahead of you.  RVing is a great way to travel.  Being teachers you will have more opportunities to RV than most other people in the work force.

When you have more questions (notice I did not say if) we will be here.

Enjoy!

Congratulations on your maiden voyage!  You'll find that it's a lot of fun trying to find out how everything works... one.... by... one.... at least when we learn this way we don't forget as easily as we do when trying to learn everything during a rushed pre delivery inspection at the dealer!

Travel safely...
