Great pictures. Michigan does have some nice state parks. However if you have a coach thats in the mid 30's and up it is a tight fit. We were in the door county (Wisconsin) and then Munising in May. In Munising there is a fantastic Municipal park They have 7 or 8 full hookup spots that overlook the channel between Munising & Grand Island. They also  have a lot of water and electric sites that are close to the water too as well as a great price for the campspots.

Codgerbill,

We have never stayed there.  It does look like a nice place though.  Here is their picture gallery.

We stayed up the hill (3 miles east of Munising).

We really would like to spend a day on Grand Island (now a national recreation area, did belong to a lumber company until a few years back).

To get to Grand Island you take the Ferry boat. They have a tour package whereby the small tourbus takes you around the island making frequent stops. The tour takes 2-3 hours and you can pack a lunch for after or before the tour. I cant remember what the cost was but the tour was really nice and the guide had a lot of interesting stories. The ferry is for people and one has to leave ones vehicle on the mainland

We haven't spent much time up there in resent years in the summer.  It is nice to see though.  We have gone up to Michigan Tech ( in Houghton ),in the winter.  Their Winter Ice Festival is fun to see.  The ice sculpture contest is very competitive and well done.  Jo's family was originally from that area and we have done genealogy research up there.

Our Eastern Half UP trip this year did skip Tahquamenon Falls this year but hear are some spring and fall pics from other years.

The first two are the Upper Falls and Lower Falls area during the fall color time.  The next three are the Upper and Lower Falls during the spring snow melt and large amount of run off.  The last shows that on May 2nd there was still snow in the State Park campground.

Yes, eat in Paradise.  The little hangout on the east side of THE road (diagonally across and south of the grocery store) has lots of locals and great pasties.  "Official" U.P. ones with the "right" stuff according to to my better half.  I googled and found it!!! Berry Patch Gifts &  Bakery  1/10 mile south of the blinking light on M-123, on the east side of M-123.

We just visited the Upper and Lower Tahquamenon Falls and enjoyed the visit.  And yes, we ate at Paradise.  There was a sign just below the Upper Falls that cited the fact that they had 17 feet of snow in that location during 2008-09 winter.  Glad we missed that.
