A quote on another thread got me to thinking about how much I enjoyed reading Popular Science and Gus Wilson's Model Garage while I was growing up.
The entire 140 year publication run of the magazine is available as a searchable online archive:
http://www.popsci.com/archives
Gus Wilson's Model Garage started in 1925 and has it's own archive:
http://www.gus-stories.org/
Good thing I have unlimited Internet access at home. <g>
