We didn't put down an underlayment for our new Allure floor, particularly because of the slide. We thought we used a lot of leveling compound, but in hindsight we should have used more. Filling all the staple holes and cracks is one thing, but making the floor level (without any observable rises) was where we fell a little short. Filling a joint with leveling compound requires a lot of feathering around each side of the joint to make it level, particularly when one edge of the joint is higher than the other. If the sub-floor is not level, the Allure floor will not be level either. Allure flooring is so thin that it does not hide flaws in the sub-flooring.
