REcently moved my m/h from from N.C to N.Y.. Now a return trip required with converstion van and 16' trailer. ? is that I hear that Va. has a limit on time spent at their rest areas on 81. This trip financially does not allow for a paid stay over. Any knowledge of the stay at the rest stops greatly appreciated.

If you check the VDot website http://www.virginiadot.org/travel/map-rest-area.asp there's no mention of a time limit that I found.  I've seen some rest stops that have a four hour time limit but I'd think the state police have better things to do than enforce a parking time limit at Interstate rest stops.

We usually stay at Flying J's or Walmarts along 81, they are conveniently located, and much quieter than restops.

Last Spring when I passed through Va on I 81,  most rest areas/ welcome centres were closed, supposedly under renovation. Some had portable toilets out front. There was little/no activity at most of them.
