This whole week has been nasty windy. This afternoon we could see Monument Valley and Arizona blowing this way :)  And more wind tomorrow. I'll be glad when it's done.

Pull up anchor and point into the wind.  Just sit there and pretend you are traveling.  With all the dust and stuff flying by, you are putting a lot of realestate behind you and saving a lot of fuel. ;D

We postponed a jaunt to ABQ because of the wind warnings... 50mph out of the SW, 110mph headwind?  Not this time.

Now, in addition to the wind, we are dealing with "smoke" blowing in from Az toward Abq, then NE toward Raton.  Major fires already and it's not even June.  Visibility and air quality problems are common.

Happy Memorial Day!

Jim we stopped at the same gas station where we bungied your topper on the way up this year.  We had winds on our way to Moab, brutal winds between Holbrook and Canyon de Chelly.

Windy season!  This year it was fairly calm while we were in Monument Vallley though.

Good news is, we're at home in the stick house with the wind blowing. Bad news is, we're at home in the stick house :)  Not getting much yard work done. Woke up this morning smelling fire, hopefully something blowing up from Arizona and not something around here. We've had 3% of our normal May precip.....dry and wind are not a good combination.

windy SW Colorado

June is normally our wettest month here in SW Mo.  Unfortunately, it won't take much rain in June for that to hold true around here.  At least we don't have the bad winds to contend with.

We've had two fires this week on the other side of the mountains.  Had to close Parker Canyon Lake because of it.  The other is posing no danger to people/buildings, but had stirred up lots of smoke.  Big winds here too, which didn't help.  But the firefighters are working magic and have them under control or nearly out.  Amazing, considering how windy it's been.  Humidity was down to 3%.  IT REALLY IS A DRY HEAT!!

Had hopes of that hurricane off Mexico would make it up north to here, but it's been downgraded to a tropical storm again and is going back out to sea.  And so our drought continues.
