Recently did a trip to San Felipe for 9 days. Stayed at a old resort called Petes Camp right about 140 miles south of Mexicali. You can camp right on the beach (hard surface) without hook ups. We were able to park parallel to the ocean (Sea of Cortez) and watch the sun come up over the water every day. There is a restaurant there with a bar, and only about ten miles from downtown San Felipe where we bought fresh blue shrimp. The tide goes out almost a mile, so you can walk out and go clamming. We got enough for a full meal (steamed clams) and alot for take home (sssssh). Approx. 30 percent of the people there are Americans, either snowbirding it, or permantly living there, and theyall seem to be loving it!
For more info, Petes Camp can easily be found online and reservations and payments are made through Temecula, California. Weather was wonderful, like nice spring weather, although summers are hot. We trailered the Jeep there so we had to pay for two campsite at $15.00 each. Feel free to post up with questions, we could even talk after that. I highly recommend it for a winter trip. Bob
