Hello from Oregon!

My hubby and I are in the process of looking at our first motorhome. We homeschooled our children, so have done a ton of traveling in travel trailers and fifth wheels over the years. Now the kids are married and we are looking at each other with bewildered expressions. Lol. Tired of the grind and hoping to rekindle our excitement for the future. We always knew we'd take to the road. That gypsy blood runs deep.

We have some questions about motorhomes and am glad there is a community of folks out there feeling the same way we do.

Thanks, Jan

Hi Jan,

Welcome to the RV Forum and thanks for joining us.  Please look around, ask questions, check out the library, and join in on any of the on going discussions.

Good luck on your search for your motorhome.  Should be able to get a good deal.

This is the only place you need to be to get ALL your questions answered, Jan.  :)  It helps that you're no rookie to RV camping and all the various specifics of hookups and campgrounds.  Sounds like all you need to do is find the right rig for your needs and budget.  It is a buyer's market right now more than any other time, and you should be able to find a great bargain.  Good luck!

Hi Jan and welcome to RV Forum. We will do our best to answer your questions. We sometimes get a bit off track when you get a lot of responses, but there is usually gold in there somewhere!  Most of us here are enthusiastic about the RV lifestyle, so you are in good company!

To share our recent purchase experience, we just bought our 1st MH 2 months ago. It is a buyer's market. Paid $8000 + 2 Jet Blue tickets to Long Beach, ad in Craigslist.

1. 1999 Tiogo Class C 26 ft (Rear walk around bed) Ford E-Super Duty (14000 GVW, dry weight 10000 lb) Triton V-10 8.5 mpg.
2. Known problems at the time of buying:
- dirty carpet
- Onan 4.0 not starting.
- Awning smashed on a tree or something.
- 127K miles.
- rusty rear bumper
3. Problems found after buying:
- cab is separated from house. (repaired with 12 bolt and nuts)
- Mor-ryde rubber spring (right rear) broken. Leaf spring rest on frame rubber stop. $150 part ordered. Plan to add a Firestone air spring (under-inflated) to help Mor-ryde out. $200, next project)
- City water inlet valve not working (put a plastic cap on or else, water pouring out when the water pump is on)
- Refrigerator vent cover missing ($15 - but order the wrong part - made a adaptor to fit instead of returning it)
- Tricket charge solar panel not working.
- Coleman A/C shroud disappeared after a trip back from Yosemite. ($80 from ebay)
- very dirty rubber roof. (bought a gallon of cleaner but a project waiting...)
- retrofit some LED's to save power (Yosemite has no hookup)
- rear inner tire (dually) lost air.
- Only 1 set of keys.
- (This is not a problem) It fits in our driveway, save some storage fees.
                - bought a water power dump kit so I can dump into the kitchen clean out. They charge $25 to dump around here.

After everything is said and done, we are happy but I am not sure it is still a good deal. Sorry if you are actually looking for a Class A instead.
