Friends,

We have Schwintek Slides.  In looking for advice on what lube to use (not for the seals but the slide mechanism) internet search produces lots of confusion stating you should use (and should not) i.e. Silicone spray, Petroleum Spray, Lite Lithium grease, or Dry PTFE lube.

What are you all using or doesn't it really matter just as long as you're lubing them consistently.

Thanks.

Hi Mark, here's what I found when I was searching for the info you're looking for. They talk about upkeep of the gears and the seals.

Is this the Schwintek In-Wall slide system or another model?

There are official videos and documents available online from Lippert (parent of Schwintek) that deal with care of all their various products. Here are a couple:

I also found this one on an independent site that supposedly originates from Lippert.

For most such mechanisms, the recommendation is to avoid sticky lubes because they collect dirt that can actually cause more wear as well as leaving grease tracks where you don't want them. PFTE Dry lubes are generally best, but a few  surfaces that get heavy wear may need a real grease, e.g. the lithium. I wouldn't use a grease unless there was a specific recommendation from the manufacturer, though.

Gary Thanks!

I was looking for recommendations from the mfg but could not find a Schwintek site.  I did find the Lippert recommendations but did not know they owned Schwintek.

They recommended the CRC PFTE lube.

That clears this up a bunch!

Thanks!

I don't have your slide, but I've found this stuff does a good job of making my slide run smoother and quieter.

However, be advised it's also thick, dark red, stinks, and is generally unpleasant to  apply.
