Too funny Kev! But I can only laugh because I have done that SO many times.  Nothing like having a part left over when you are done with a job!  Good to hear about the protection built into the Inverter. That would be one expensive replacement.

However, it was a "manly" cry, so it's all good.  BTW, thank you for taking the time to post this, it opened my eyes to a potential issue, I was unaware of.
