I keep mine in an insulated steel building (pole barn with gravel floor). It's a great home for it, no sunlight, no critters making home on the intake, temps above freezing all the time due to the gravel floor (and being in NC) and it's always dry. I keep the slide in generally for one simple reason - it is less likely that I'm going to hit it when moving other things around in the building (truck, trailers, tractor etc). Plus, having a 37x8.5 obstacle is enough room taken up and I have other toys for the remaining floor space. I used to keep the jacks down to remove some weight from the tires but I don't do that so much anymore.
