I don't know what my Outback GVWR is but knows its payload is 750, of which I need to deduct passenger and stuff before considering tongue weight of a camper.  It doesn't leave a lot for this last item.  Maybe a 2000 TT is doable, but for me that is not much of a TT.  I am getting a 2017 next month.  Will let you know what I found out on the new ones. Look at the yellow sticker on the driver's door post. Based on all my previous Subies, I am guessing the 750 is the passenger/cargo weight (it is 800 pounds on mine). That is in addition to a 150 - 200 pound tongue weight and a 2700 - 3000 pound tow capacity (depending on model). Subaru rates their cars totally different than everyone else; the tow rating assumes passengers. And while a Subaru can't tow a 20' hard sided trailer, they can tow some of the bigger tear drop style hard sided trailers and many pop ups.
