Does anyone tow a Toyota Echo....? (VVT and timing chain not belt) My hitch capacity is 3500lbs.  Not very many cars out there that I can tow 4 down and still meet the the 2/3 of hitch capcity rule of thumb....

Thanks,

Let me rephrase the question....

I am looking for a tow car with a curb weight of around 2200lbs.... I have owned an automatic with 220,000 miles.

Seems like a good place to start ...however I know there are others...
Kia Rio
Toyota Yaris
etc..

Maybe it's my engineering training..... pushing anything to "it's capacity" doesn't seem to be prudent.... We always designed in a margin of safety to our designs.... it could be the hitch designers already did that with the advertised capacity of each Class level of hitch...."could be".  I learned this  "rule" from someone who has a lot of experience and whom I trust....

Just a little extra margin.....

cheers....
