I was not sure where to post this so please excuse me if I have placed this post in the wrong place.
Can anyone tell me how the condition of US 285 from Stockton, TX to Carlsbad, NM is and then from Carlsbad, NM to I-40 north (just north of Vaughn, NM).

We will be in a 40'DP Fleetwood

Thanks
Colleen

US 285, Carlsbad to I-40 (Cline's Corners), is in fine shape. We took our rig to Carlsbad from here in Santa Fe last Thanksgiving. It's almost all divided 4-lane with a 65 mph speed limit. I can't recall any stretches of less than good surface, either. Also, Not too many towns to slow you down.

Watch out where you fuel, though. The gas station at Cline's Corners will really gouge you, as I can unfortunately atest. Gas prices in the small towns along the way, e.g., Vaughn, tend to be pretty high, too.
