The More I Look The More Confused I Get.
In many cases I know you really do get what you pay for.
I was convinced what I wanted was a Class A Diesel Pusher... and I'm still really in that mind set.
The Thor Palazzo falls at a price point I could handle, but then I have seen some awful reviews and video's on YouTube.

So then I got to thinking about quality. Someone out there has to have a name that represents quality and a tradition of delivering an exceptional product at any price point.
I am open to opinions on Class A Diesel, Class A Gassers, and even open to opinions on some 5th wheels.

It would help if you told us your price point.  Several companies make nice reasonable priced entry level diesels.  Fleetwood and Winnebago are 2 that come to mind off hand.

As I mentioned in the OP, The question really is, Who makes a unit that is quality at all its price points.
If we use Fleetwood as an example, Do they offer quality at every price point? Or do they have some general crap at a price below say $160,000.00.
I am not stuck on brand new as well. Just looking for who in general delivers quality in their products.
Remember, I'm 100% new and trying to figure out a path so as not to waste my time or my money, or be lured in by a smooth talking salesperson.

The end game is to be able to go from Florida to Montana and go to Alaska if we get the bug.
I am sure I can only do this once. Financially I need to get it right the first time.
I'm finding that some of the struggle comes from not knowing what to ask or how to ask the question.

People have generally been happy with Newmar, the Winnie line and Tiffin.  There are others but these are a few for consideration.

FWIW, we have been very happy with our Nemar Dutch star and know of others with MHs up and down the Newmar line that have been happy with theirs.

Check the various owners forums by searching on Google, going to iRV2, here and other RV related forums.

Check the floor plans for each manufacturer as you will have to live with what you buy and you must be comfortable in with living in it.  Also consider subscribing to MotorHome magazine and joining the FMCA to get their magazine and access to back issue reviews of MHs for additional information on both RVing and MHs.

Be careful of a used Pilazzo.  They had serious slide out problems a few years back.  I have a Fleetwood gasser, and more than my share of problems, but Fleetwood took care of them, even beyond warranty.  Everyone I talk to no matter what make they have, there are problems.  It's a house on wheels!  I believe production demands are causing the problems.  The manufacturers are pushing them out without really QCing them, and the dealers are overwhelmed.

Well it depends on what price point you are talking about and what price you have been quoted on the Thor Palazzo. Motor Home Specialist have several under $170,000 and running sales on them now.

I would be looking at a better quality used coach for the same price. Here is an example, compare this to the Palazzo.

At $170K, you'll get a "high quality" gasser 38 footer class A; to get the same for a DP, let's talk at ? $300,000 !
Does that suit your budget ?
You might want to look at the link I posted.
Bill

You might consider a later model used DP from the quality manufacturers. IF $17oK is your price point, there are several that should be considered.  I am more familiar with the Newmars so consider a Ventanna, or others.  Even a few years old Dutch Star should be in that price range

To answer the original question, "Who makes the highest quality class A MHs". That would be Prevost. But they may not be in your price range, I believe they start over $1,000,000.

Note that Pr?vost do NOT actually make motor homes, they supply the shell (usually a modified, unfinished OTR passenger bus similar to the ones you see on the road everyday) and sell them to 'converters' who actually finish them into very high end motor homes. I think there are 6 different converter companies around the country.

In addition to the 'Prevost bus converters' , Newell makes a really nice high end coach from scratch (not a conversion). Again, big $$$.

Tom, go look at the second site I posted a link to. They have a 2001 Newell in the ball park for the OP. From what I was told Newell doesn't just build coaches and ship them to dealers. They don't make a coach till someone orders one. You sit down with a design team and ok every thing on the build sheet. The replacement cost on that 2001 would be north of 1.6m.
The link is to a nice Foretravel in his price range.

Bill, understand the Newell biz model. I was merely offering a (very nice) alternative to Prevost bus conversions. I don't believe Marathon (Prevost converter) sells via dealers either. When we toured their facility in Coburg, OH several years ago, we were told that 80% of their builds were spec, and only 20% were custom. I suspect that subsequently changed. I'm still on their mailing list for available new & used coaches.

If you have an interest in Newell coaches look at this one.

Or this one

This is the one that is in the OPs price range.

How many things have we bought when not really shopping? ;)
The last one and the Foretravel I linked to are both in the OPs price range and better coaches.

Hopefully he'll see the links and have his wallet ready  ;D
