I am buying my 1st motor coach. It is a 2003 winnebago in excellant shape powered with  a GM gas engine and allsion trany. I want to have the drive train, engine and tranny checked out before i close the deal. Any suggestions of where i can get this done in south florida miami area.

That would be a Workhorse brand chassis and many Chevy/GM dealers will also be Workhorse service centers. Truck service places can also generally service them, though some may not want to deal with motorhomes (risk of getting grease on carpets, that sort of thing).

There will also be dedicated Allison service centers in the area - check the Yellow Pages or Allison website.

Few RV dealers have chassis service expertise. May be ok for an oil change, though. A few mega-dealers are large enough to have trained chassis techs, e.g. Lazydays in Tampa, but most do not and you are better off going direct to a truck-size service center.

One of the other reasons dealers don't work on RVs is they don't have service bay doors that are tall enough and/or lifts that are heavy-duty enough to handle the weight of an RV.  That's why looking for people who work on trucks often works better.

I have the basic automotive service for my Workhorse done at a local independent auto shop...Bigger/RV related stuff gets done at an independent RV shop. SOME things I take to Brazel's RV in Centralia (about 85 miles each way) because they're pretty much the Workhorse specialists around here.

thanks to all, I actually got real lucky. I found an outfit called "Dave's Fleet Service" out of Fort Lauderdale. They came to me in a beautiful truck all set up. Did all the inspection work and all the service right there. Dave was very knowledgeable and helpful . Prices very fair.

As you found out a lot of times you can find a good local independent service center and end up saving a bunch of $'s.

We too are looking for an RV service on our 2008 Winnebago Sightseer...we are in Southern California, San Diego area.
Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
