I'm getting concerned about the ability of the spammers to keep getting into the forum. Is there any possibility that they have installed malware on the forum servers?

I have noticed that they keep getting in the same way. Basic test post with no content, always in the fifth wheel forum. There is a pattern that points to some kind of algorithm getting past the firewalls. The posts are not from new members but from the same user, almost as if a banned user keep getting reinstated - malware?

Things have been put in place to prevent this stuff, but it doesn't prevent 100% of it getting through. I've been owner/admin of forums for over 30 years, and I can assure you there's no way to keep out 100% of the bad guys. What we're seeing here is minimal compared with what I've seen on forums in the past.

Given the number of views these post seem to get within a few minutes of being posted, I have to wonder if they are deep linking to them from other sites so as to get to their intended audience.

I can't figure out what the motive is. My guess is that less than 1% of this forum can even read it...what possible benefits are there to posting here?

They are testing their tools.. and they will keep testing. as the Forum managers and the system owners put better and better firewalls in place to burn them.. Well they will work on better and better tools to break in.. and then they use those tools all over.

We need to both pass laws against this type of thing (Michigan used to have such a law, don't know if we still do) and ENFORCE IT. (The Michigan law had a few issues... But still we had one).

And in other news ... As I type this Good Morning America is starting... With the news of another Mall Shooting. this time in Texas.

Thanks to all the volunteers that continue to work on this (y). It's a great value for the fees charged :sneaky:. I'm not sure what the spammers could gain, I typically don't click anything without slight oversight, and have a designated email for sites such as this one. The trick to 'ignore' feature is great.

As if a spammer sitting in Asia someplace has any compunction about breaking a U.S. law! Do you expect Interpol to find them and extradite folks sitting in a call center somewhere? The internet is international, and we have to expect it to be a bit messy sometimes.

When I see these, I just click on the username, select “ignore”, and refresh my screen. Voila! No more spam! (Notice the international reference there?)

This is now the world we live in. Advertisements, scam, spam and intrusions into your life no matter where you turn.

Frankly, I'm surprised our toilet paper doesn't had ads on each leaf.. (hmmm... good idea)

I cut and pasted one of the spam posts into Google Translate. They're ads for forged diplomas and faked transcripts from prestigious universities. Followed by a list of just about every institute of higher education in the western world.

Not any different the spam phone calls. Your information is out there. If enough people ignore it, it will eventually slow down. I've been getting 4-5 spam emails daily.
These clowns may not even be picking the information up from this site, but are phishing other websites that are RV related. It doesn't take a computer long to send out thousands of messages. Even the youngsters in those countries have the knowledge to spam people.
