We have a power awning, I have sprayed joints with WD40 and Silicone lubricant. Both seems to work about a month. Is there anything else I can try? Does not seem to have an issue opening, but closing…OMG sounds like an old man trying to get up out of a chair!

It comes with the territory. I'm sure some enterprising RV couple who have been RV'ing their entire adult lives ( going on 2 yrs. now) with their own YouTube show will be glad to highly recommend a specific awning arm spray lube which was developed by NASA engineers.

Hey, there! Speaking for all the groaning men trying to get out of chairs, I am highly offended.

I groan getting in the chair, while in the chair and while getting out of the chair. We went to dinner last night with friends and were sat at one of those high top tables. My knees will not bend far enough back for my feet to rest on the bar around the stool so my legs hung down all night. Halfway through dinner both legs were asleep and tingly. So much for the golden years.

Since a lubricant solves the problem, you merely need one that doesn't wash or wear away in a month. That's a factor called "cling", i.e. how long the lubricant stays in place. I can name a few that ought to be longer lasting, but I make no promises.

Kwik-Lube from the Kwikee step people, now a Lippert product.
Most any "motorcycle chain lube" spray
CRC Power Lube
I have to admit that I'm boggled by the seemingly endless supply of lubrication products (I'm another that grew up using WD-40 for everything even though it worked for about a week lol.) As Gary pointed out above Ace Hardware carries the Blaster branded lubes which seem reasonably priced and quickly available. So basically, I'm wondering if I should use the Blaster Chain lube for my steps or spring for the more expensive Kwik-Lube. I've seen posts on Amazon about the Kwik-lube nozzle clogging. I'd assume hot water would cure that, but I'm wondering if just going with the Blaster Chain lube at a lower price point and smaller size makes sense. Is the Kwik-Lube worth it? I'll absolutely spring for a better product, but have to admit I'm a "bank for the buck" kind of guy... I'm also really trying to learn "what type of lubricant fits what application".

Motorcycle chain lube or WD40 specialist gel lube. The WD40 stuff is a little messy so you will need to wipe off the excess. I use it on the stabilizer jack screw and pivot points.

Each application needs a different type spray lube, use RV slide lube on an RV drawer slide or RV deadbolt lube on an RV step hinge and don't blame us when you burst into a ball of flame on the interstate.

Contact these guys. Stopping the groaning of the deployment of solar panels in outer space is their specialty. Grease for awnings on Mars in the future. It might cost a small fortune for a spray can.
