How long do you look over the word list, before trying to solve the puzzle?

I've found that just sitting there, looking at the words, and thinking about their relationships for a few minutes, while sipping on my Coffee, maybe even hitting the reshuffle a couple of times, giving the cat an ear-scratch, helps to "make the connections a bit more clear."

Sometimes they are just too disconnected for my brain!
 
This one had me going.
the only reason I got the purple group was because they were the last four items left, so they had to belong together. Even after selecting them, I still don't see the "connection"
