At some pumps I was able to "skip" the tax number, but for whatever reason the Pilot's in Oregon wouldn't let me skip that part.  My two options were "enter" or "cancel".  Since big rigs were stacking up behind me, I gave up and went around to the auto side and took up the whole aisle and sat there while fueling with the slow pump.  At some pumps I have to go through a list of options; "refer", "tractor", "puc number" and so on.  Which I don't mind hitting the skip button to get to the end result of a higher dollar amount and a much faster pump.  Seems more likely than not, when we have to go in and have the clerk manage the pump, it doesn't go well.  At one place in New Mexico, not a Pilot, we almost gave up at the truck lanes, finally after about 6 attempts the pump started working, the clerk was not having a good day I guess.  Fueling is part of the "adventure".
