I just washed my rig yesterday and thought it time to lubricate the slide-out. Granted, the rig is only 6 weeks old to me, but was built in July 2019.

Any suggestions about the type or brand?

Tips for exactly where to apply, and where to avoid?

Camper is Grey Wolf 26DBH, one wide slide is all.

It really doesn't need much, if any, lubing.  There should be lube instructions in your slide operation instructions, if needed.

There are three potential areas that might be lubed in some fashion:

1. The slide mechanical arms/gears.  This varies with the type of mechanism, e.g. rack & pinion, hydraulic ram, Schwintek, etc.

2. The rubber wipers along the sides & top.

3. The rubber D-shells that get compressed when the slide is fully open or closed.

#1 can be lubed with a dry lube spray, e.g. dry silicone. Avoid any greases or oils that can stick dirt to the gears of pivot points.

#2 & #3 don't need lube per se, but you can apply a rubber preservative like 303 Protectant

#2 can also be treated with a dry silicone lube if you prefer.

I always used dry lube.  Things like WD40 are too oily and can attract dirt.  Which is a bad thing.  Spray everything you can see.  Slide plates, gear rack etc.
