Doing some early planning for a trip to Gatlinburg area this summer, probably end of July. Need some suggestions for campgrounds with full hook ups and pet friendly. Don't really want to be in the midst of all the attractions 10 miles out would be nice.

our famiy absolutely loves yogi bear's jellystone park. the landry family that runs that place is the most accomodating and friendly people. there are plenty of activities, stream side camping and a short 15 minute drive from gatlinburg. so far it is the best campground we have stayed in up there. we go at least 2 times a year and have found it to be the most relaxing and entertaining for the kids. check out the website or facebook page they have. it comes with my highest recommendations!!!!

we always seem to end up at KOA in Pigeon Forge for some reason .. In the midst of everything commercial

Twin Creek is quiet, clean, and close to downtown Gatlinburg.  There are trams that loop to most of the campgrounds, Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, so local transportation is less of a issue.

We were there for a week during the fall and we were very pleased.

I have also stayed at Yogie Bears Yellstone Park and had a nice experience. Have you checked on any of the campgrounds in the Townsend area? It is away from all the traffic mess of the Gatlinburg area and these campgrounds are a lot quieter and cheaper.
