I was getting my GM car serviced and walked over to the GMC dealer.  They seem to have some good looking pickups with new design for their trans. to give better gearing to improve mileage.
My big question is why do I see a lot about Ford and RAM but little about GMC.

Lots of Chevy (Silverado) and GMC (Sierra) owners here and elsewhere. Maybe they aren't as hyper about their vehicles as Ford or Ram owners?

I've owned one of each - all good trucks when configured right for the task expected of them.

Well, because us Ram owners are braggarts!!  :)  (Mopardude should be here shortly)  LOL

Seriously, when I was truck shopping I looked at all of the Big Three offerings.  Each had things I liked, and things I didn't like....but at the end of the day, overall were pretty much equal.  I chose the Ram because I liked the looks better.  Yes, it really came down to that.

But all are darn fine vehicles.

I was open to Chevrolet or Ford because I could pull either behind the MH easily and the Dodge needed modifications. The wife hated the looks of the Ford dash and door panels so we went with Chevrolet. Our best 2 way 50 mile average fuel mileage was 25.1. Going down the mountain we got over 40 one day, but that was all downhill. For a full size, 4 door, 4x4, V8 pickup that's all I think I could ask for.

RAMs seem to be very popular at MX tracks..cannot fault any of the RAMs I have owned...

Fords seem to be the cheapest...Chevs, the most expensive for what you get...

when i was shopping years ago, I personally found the fit and finish better with my chevy (same as GMC)
and the style was more to my taste, so i "feel" like it was more bang for the buck.

I'm not so sure I like the newer body styles they are putting out now..... but I haven't looked that close.

I have been very pleased with my GM truck.

Here I am... LOL!

Being I work on vehicles for living I can tell you that all vehicles have weakness or some sort. It's all in the manner of how you deal with the weakness to properly setup your tow vehicle for work. Like myself I own both Dodge truck 96 and 02. Both gas and diesel. Both short and long box. Both manual and Automatic. Both 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton trucks.  As for my primary diesel truck is not stock powered. It roughly 400 hp and 900 torque compared to the tiny 235 hp and 460 torque it was produce with.

Funny thing is my father worked for GM in the Van Nuys, CA division for 30 years and retired. The GM dealer wouldn't make any price breaks for a retired GM employee. Being back in 2002. GM diesel where nearly 10k over a Dodge...So I bought Dodge. I actually like the interior of the GM vehicle and the soft rides.

As for Ford's I work on plenty of those too. Matter of fact I got a Ford 6.0L diesel with a blown EGR cooler to fix for the Fire Dept and not looking forward to the job.  ::)

I will say that the GM trucks were are more "Car like"  and have a broader appeal... and much lower than the RAM...

My mechanics scared the heck out of me with ford diesel problems...

The "new" Ford 6.0L Powerstroke (actually a Navistar engine) was fraught with problems and Ford subsequently broke with Navistar over it and did their own diesel to replace it. It seems to be a solid performer. Any of you diesel gear heads have any comment on the later Fords?

6.4L Fords are having issues with DPF and EGR just like the 6.7L Dodge Cummins. The only problem is its much harder to remove/delete on a Ford than a Dodge.

love my GM's but i would never discount owning a dodge or a ford all three are very comparable. and i have 2 chevs even the boat has an LS1 chev lol

When I owned a garage (1970-6), I started with a vintage Ford, about '63 and the bought  new six cyl std Chevrolet,  and then a 454 GMC automatic with all the bells and whistles cto us as a light wrecker.  Both of the GM vehicles got six mpg! I've bought a least 20 new vehicles since and none have been GM.

I spent some time in Enterprise Rentals. They put me in Ford, Dodge and GM pickups

The Ford scared me, not enough weight on the drive axle so it had a tendency to want to spin out except on clear dry pavement..  But I liked the cockpit

The GM was far more stable (They take pride in that) but alas  I think it was the seat bealt that bothered me

Forget what was wrong with the Dodge.

Problem is not one of them was truly to my liking,  but the GM was the best ride.

.  Same here, except I went with Ford...

I've had nothing but excellent service from My GMC both the Truck and the Dealer, I've always had great service from GM, I'd buy a Dodge but see no reason to switch, and after rebuilding the 460 in My old Shasta motor home, (E350) I will Never own another Ford, I grew up on Fords and had way too many, I took a chance and bought the last one only to get totally burned. Never again! GMC for Life.

I have a friend whose Son works in West Texas, He has a 2500 Chevy Duramax 4wd with an Allison, this boy drives 85mph and gets 32MPG, no camper, with his bumper pull Toy Hauler He's getting about 18MPG, and, that Duramax will pull the World! That will be My next Truck.

I had a gmc truck.    No difference between it and a Chevy other than the bage on the grill and dashboard.  Very relibail    but try to tell that to a ford or mopar guy.

One of my dad's cousins was a career Ford Mahwah plant employee.  Off the job he was Mopar through and through. Never learned exactly why.

Even my Dad was a 30 year retired GM employee and was also a Dodge/Mopar Fan. Something to do with the fact of knowing all the thinks that are done in the vehicle just kind of sours some people.
