Let me explain.
I have a portable 100 watt panel on my fence here at the house. On the Portable system I have the controller mounted in a waterproof box on a piece of 2x12 wood that I just sit on the concrete under the RV and the Charge Leads coming off the controller I Clamp direct to the Terminal leads on the house Batteries to trickle charge them.
My Solar Panel on the RV roof is shaded by my RV Car/Port.
I am about to scrap using this portable system. The Aspect has a 150 w Solar input at the rear of the RV that runs thru the WGO factory installed 30 Amp Zamp Solar Controller. My Panel on the fence I will continue to use, but I will need a set of Slightly longer leads (+ &-) coming off the 100 watt solar panel on my Fence as I don't want to change the location where I have the panel mounted.
Went to Lowes and bought $10 worth of Shims. Came back and got things snug on all sides of the batteries, locking the footprint in the oversized tray. The back of the tray that houses the two Group 31 House batteries has 3" of gap in the tray behind the deepest battery. I know that 3rd bolt should keep the middle of the battery from coming back but without something on the corners things will go trapezoid shape in the pan, even with the bar running over the top so tight it will damage your batteries.
With the bottom locked in like a puzzle, and I Siliconed that back red block in because I do not want to have binding force on the battery plastic outer shell, Snug to lock in like a puzzle only. The top bar I have Light tightening on only. They angle iron is high enough on the tray I have nothing to worry about.
