My wife and I are not new to RVing, however we are looking to purchase our first towable.  We have semi settled on the new Hybrids or Expandables.  Is there anyone out there that has a recommendation on brand due to great experience or a warning due to bad experience?

Is there problems with the weather on the tented beds?

Any help that you may have would be greatly appreciated.

Ah, an admirable choice, a true classic.  You are a man of obvious good taste.  ;D

The tow rating new is 7000 lbs.  You are right to keep it light with the trailer.  I would not exceed a trailer GVWR of 5600 lbs.  That should get you into a number of TTs 24' on down, and most hybrids.

I suspect you are looking for a vacation trailer, not a fulltimer.  That eases your problems considerably.  You can tolerate, in fact with lightweights you must tolerate, a lower level of durability.  I have a 23LV Prowler that is still in one piece after 10 years so I can recommend that line.  But trailers are really just simple boxes on wheels -- what you see is what you get.
