A small amount of rain water is getting through the seam in my awning where the material attaches to the plastic half-round.
What should I use as a sealant on this seam?

A canvas waterproofer spray should do the trick. Look in the camping dept. at wal-mart. It's made for tents.

I would think it would, because you are treating the seam. It is a little thick and fills the sewing holes on tents.

Another option would be to treat the seam with wax. You can get a block of "Gulf Wax" at the grocery store. rub it down the seam on both sides.

Running to Walmart tomorrow as you suggested. Good selection of vinyl sealers. Thanks for preventing another wild goose chase. Are you still in wisconsin Steve? We're heading toward the Dells next week.
