You need to make sure the tow bar is more or less level - no more than 4" low or 2" high. Low is better than high. Install a drop or raised adapter in the receiver if necessary to get the tow bar or ball at the right height for your "tall" Jeep.
Thanks Gary, I shoud have thought of that. Towing was my life for 4 years and that is a basic concept. I was stressed out this weekend trying to wire up the tow lights. It was easy once I thought it through. Couldn't figure out why there wasn't any power to the coach end of the diodes, couple hours later told myself that you need to hook up the coach to have coach power to the wires. Doh :-[
Just went through the wiring thing on my Wrangler also.. Finally decided to add a extra light and fixture to the factory rear light housing on the Jeep and bypass all the factory wiring....Works great.
