Yes, as Gary noted in post #18, there’s competition in the medical information storage/sharing business. I’m not promoting Epic over any others. I have many years work experience in the medical reimbursement field as well direct clinical medical delivery (bedside) experience. I only specified Epic because it’s what I know and rely on. I hired a couple of Epic employees away from Epic and, as a result, learned a bit about their business model/product.

As a nomad, having my primary care and specialist physicians (in Ohio) be Epic affiliated, seeking Epic affiliated providers on the road has worked well for me. I was only suggesting a possible option the OP might be find useful. Epic isn’t by any means the only one to provide this service, just the only one I have any experience with. (And my experience has been positive.)

I am a huge fan of Epic health information services. Out of all the ones I have used (at least four), Epic has the best patient portal (MyChart). I get a seamless look at all my Epic providers, or I can specify to just see one of them. Easier to navigate and has more options than the others. I won’t say it was the deciding factor in choosing my PCP, but it was one of them! My PCP, a Physician‘s Assistant, commented how easily she could see the information from my previous PCP and their entire network.

My point was not which digital chart (aka patient portal) is better or worse - just that providers have many choices and what is convenient for one patient may not be for another. Only occasionally will you as the patient have the luxury of choosing a care provider based on the digital chart service they use.

Nationwide healthcare systems like HCA and Advent Health may have an advantage here - they typically use the same digital chart/portal across their system.
