center of the mattress has caved in, feel like I falling into a hole if I am not careful. I " think " I am looking for a relative light weight quality mattress ....any recommendations ??

We have a Novafoam that we bought from Costco.  It is not the lightest thing but it is comfortable and less than about $500 IF I remember correctly.

Are you sure its just the mattress? Check the board under the mattress to be sure...many RV dealers sell upgraded mattresses for RV. In our case we were able to have a mattress made for us by a local company in our city that makes mattresses for the hotel industry as well as custom rv mattresses. Many of them will be 6 inches shorter than your home mattress, but same RV's have the same size as your home mattresses.

My wife and I recommend the Madison by Denver mattress co. It is available in all RV sizes...short queen under $500. You get a very good nights sleep.

Go to a large mattress store and start testing them out.  Pick the one you like best and have them deliver and install in your fiver.  Thats what we did and have zero regrets.

But before you go shopping, measure your mattress carefully - length, width, and depth.  Many RV mattresses are made to fit into the available space and are non-standard sizes.  This affects not only what mattress you can replace it with, but also the linens that will fit it.  Newer ones often are thicker.  Or maybe thicker won't work if there's storage under the bed and you have to lift the bed to put things under it.  The board on which our mattress sits lifts up and almost touches the ceiling.  Thinner would fit but thicker might not.

I can't speak for a 5'er, but we replaced the stock foam mattress in our 38 foot Monaco Camelot coach with an air mattress, similar to the Sleep Number we have at home; We've since replaced it with a genuine Sleep Number mattress. It's approx 3" longer than the RV queen original, but it fits just fine with the bedroom slideout in.

IMO some of the foam toppers are for the birds. OTOH we had a "firm" foam mattress made for a prior boat.

Just a suggestion is the Lucid memory foam mattress. It's 12 in thick and great. We bought a twin size on Amazon for our daughter after searching four awhile with no good results, thought we would try it because of the reviews. We love it so much we're getting one for us and the camper. The Queen is $330 and ships to your door.

Our mattress was sagging, the structure under it was rotted right out and the previous owner covered the damage with thin plywood. We knew about the damage when we bought, the price was right. If yours is ok a new mattress is in order.
Do you have a walk around or 'east-west' bed? Ours is the latter, I had quite a time getting the mattress out so check the route before buying, it will be going in before the front wall section is installed. You may have to roll it up or fold in half so don't get a thick one.

We have a 5" firm foam from http://www.thefoamfactory.com they can make any size.

How do you like this? They are 50 miles from me, and I have been looking at that same mattress. Kinda hard to beat the prices and free shipping!
