Spent today having our carpeting replaced with vinyl tile. We managed to find the same tile that Itasca had originally used. Tomorrow we get to bolt and screw all the parts back together. The pictures are from my cell phone. I'll get some better ones soon.

8) Nice Job and Looks Great. I am thinking about doing that with my old 88 Cl-C.  I will have to put in a new sub floor hopefully some sort of insulated board then an underlayment for the vinyl flooring. Now it has a deep nap carpet, then I believe wafer board which gives to much and every 2 or 3 foot a metal cross support and 3/16" full galvanized metal bottom floor shield. It feels punky when you walk, but has done that since bought in 1993 and was garage kept. So, I believe there is no wood rot. Irover

Hi Robert - and welcome aboard!

Good looking - it sounded like you hired out the tile job?  We have mostly tile in ours, but one of my dreams is to get rid of the odds and ends of carpet we have and go with full tile or wood.

looks great. I'm looking at the snap togeather that looks like hardwood. I had bought some Bamboo but was worried about the weight

Looks great!  We have tile in our Itasca and I'm thinking it's the same type.  Do you know if it's supposed to dent or chip?

it looks great.. we are putting the vinyl tile floors in our fifth wheel this weekend hoping it looks good as well!

It's the same vinyl tile that Winnebago installed. Doubt that it would chip or crack.

Could I ask where you got the new tile to match and about what it cost per square?  When we ordered our Meridian new in 2004 I also had the dealer order 6 additional tiles for a back up in case any got damaged by accident.  Those 6 tiles cost just a little over $36, I nearly passed out when he gave me the invoice.  At the most I was expecting $1.50-$2.00 per tile including freight since most are less than $1.00 at flooring companies.

The tile was about $4.25/sq ft. To remove carpet in main living area and replace with tile cost $660 for tile and $200 for labor.

Very nice job. We hope to do something similar a little later this spring.  Did you have any problem with your driver side slide scaring, marking, or cracking the tile? My understanding is that Winnie put rollers on the part of our '04 Vectra slide that comes in over tile in the galley, but installed a slider type "shoe" on that part of the same slide that comes in over the carpet in the salon area. The "shoe", since it obviously doesn't roll, would scrape the tile and scuff or have a propensity to crack and/or break the tile as the slide was extended and retracted. To change out the "shoe" for the roller, the slide has to be nearly removed. Again, just my understanding, so may be totally wrong, and the reason for the question.

Very nice and welcome to the forum!

You'll love the new floor but do pay attention to the "slide shoe" issue mentioned above.  I replaced all of our carpet with Allure flooring and I have gotten some scratches and marring from the shoe, designed for carpet, riding over the hard surface Allure.  Some day I'll have the proper shoes installed and replace the damaged tiles but for now it's still ok.

At the slide we held the carpet on the slide up while cutting out the carpet below. We needed to keep the tile about an 1 1/2" back from the edge. Had one piece too close and it was destroyed as the slide came in. Replaced it and all is well.

I do have one piece in my kitchen area that is where the slide comes over that seems to have a small groove in it.  I don't think anyone else would ever notice it, I just wondered how it got like that because I didn't think tile would dent or chip.  Sounds like some of you have had some damage done to your tiles.  I think the tiles put in my Meridian are different material than the tile that I'm normally used to seeing in a residential house.  Not quite as durable....JMO
